Book Sale

A community event entitled ‘A Hythe of Activity’ organised for the village centre at the end of May was unfortunately the victim of unseasonal persistent rain and high winds. Hythe & District Rotary Club had planned to participate by running a secondhand bookstall and information stand in Hythe High Street, but after stoically standing their ground and devising a variety of ways to try and keep the books dry, club members decided to admit defeat and packed up at midday.

It was a shame, after all the effort put in by Hythe Parish Development Officer Helen Owers, HANDY Trust Youth Worker Candy Huxham, and a team of hard working local  youngsters,  that the event had to be curtailed. It would have been an excellent opportunity for local organisations and charities to showcase what they do, to raise funds and to attract new members. Despite getting so wet and cold on this occasion, members of Hythe & District Rotary Club would be pleased to take part in any future similar event.
