Hythe & District Inner Wheel issued its challenge to
Hythe Rotary in the form of a Skittles Match at Mortimer’s Hotel, Ower.
Both teams were on their usual form – high levels of effort
with varying degrees of success!
After three rounds, the final score was 201 to Rotary and 161 to
Inner Wheel, with top scorers for each team being John Williams (35) and
Jenny Ellis (22) respectively. Inner Wheel team leader Jan Hoy expressed
her deep sadness at having to relinquish the trophy to Rotary, but at least
it was going to a good home as she presented it to Rotary team leader Dave
Hoy!
After an eventful and somewhat surprising buffet supper (you
had to be there to appreciate it), the teams were in action again for a
sudden death game of ‘Killer’. Last left standing for Rotary was Ralph
Ellis, with Margaret Rowles taking the honours for Inner Wheel.
The whole evening was a very enjoyable social event. Members
of Rotary are now busy trying to think up a suitable return challenge for
next year.
